Which age groups will you be holding tryouts for?

We will be offering tryouts for 11U-18U age groups.

 

​The following breakdown outlines the SCSN age definition policy.

​

18s and under division: Players born on or after July 1, 2008

17s and under division: Players born on or after July 1, 2009

16s and under division: Players born on or after July 1, 2010

15s and under division: Players born on or after July 1, 2011

14s and under division: Players born on or after July 1, 2012​

13s and under division: Players born on or after July 1, 2013​

12s and under division: Players born on or after July 1, 2014

11s and under division: Players born on or after July 1, 2015

 

Who will your coaches be?

Our coaches will mostly be comprised of The Lab coaches who assist and lead The Lab's group clinics and league programs. Coaches will be announced on our Instagram page: @thrive_volleyballclub

TRYOUTS

Where are tryouts?

Tryouts for all age groups will be held at Thrive Valencia (28365 Constellation Road).

​

If you are trying out for TWO ages groups, you must register for BOTH age groups.

When are tryouts?

15s-18s Tryout Day is July 25, 2026
15s............. 3:00pm-5:00pm
16s............12:00pm-2:00pm
17s/18s..... 9:00am-11:00am
 
11s-14s Tryout Day is October 3, 2026
​11s/12s......... 4:00pm-6:30pm
13s...................... 1:00-3:00pm
14s............ 10:00am-12:00pm

 

Do you build teams before tryouts?

Not entirely. At Thrive, athlete evaluations happen year-round through club seasons, clinics, leagues, lessons, and tryouts. As a result, some athletes may receive early roster invitations; however, we intentionally reserve roster opportunities for new athletes who demonstrate they're a great fit during tryouts.
 

TOURNAMENTS

Which tournaments will you attend?

All of our teams will attend all mandatory SCSN regional tournaments. All teams will attend Las Vegas Red Rock Rave. Additional tournaments for each team can be found in the Thrive Club Packet.

 

PRACTICES

Where will practices be held?

Teams may be assigned to practice at Thrive Sylmar or Thrive Valencia. However, whenever feasible, we strive to assign teams to the location that best meets the needs of the team and its players.

How often are practices?

Teams will practice a minimum of 2 times per week with an additional 2 practices per month. Outdoor local parks may also be utilized to work on multi-sport techniques and games that double as fun and unique team bonding activities.

COSTS

What is the cost for one season? Are uniforms included?

Season costs can be found in our Thrive Club Packet. Uniforms costs are also included in the Club Packet.

What does the uniform package cover?

The uniform package covers 2 jersey tops, 1 backpack, and 1 warm up top. 

​

What other costs are associated with club volleyball?

Club volleyball is very much a time and financial commitment. Extra costs include travel to/from weekend tournaments across Southern California. From Santa Clarita, venues could be 60-70 miles away or more. Local tournaments could also be 1 or 2 day events. There are tournament admission fees at most locations as well as parking fees; both can cost up to $20 per person for admission, and per car for parking. Other costs include travel and lodging when we have out-of-town or out-of-state tournaments that span 3 to 4 days.  With all costs combined, a club volleyball season can cost up to, or over, $6,500 per season per athlete.
